A Digital Initiative for Document Authentication

Streamlining and modernizing the authentication of documents for international use.

About e-Apostille

The e-Apostille initiative is a digital platform introduced by the Government of Bangladesh to streamline and modernize the authentication and legalization of public documents for international use. With Bangladesh joining the Apostille Convention on 29 July 2024, the country offers a secure, fully digital system for apostillizing documents. The system is designed to reduce administrative burdens and enhance security.

Key Features

  • Completely Digital Process: From submission to authentication, all steps are done online.
  • End-to-End Encryption: Ensures data security and prevents tampering.
  • National Database Integration: Verification directly from government sources.
  • Time and Cost Efficiency: Process completed within five days.
  • Secure Verification Measures: Multiple levels of verification ensure authenticity.
  • Digital Signature & QR Code Verification: Easy, reliable document validation.

Implementation and International Acceptance

While the system is efficient and secure, some countries have raised concerns, including France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Bangladesh continues to work on gaining broader international acceptance, especially for marriage certificates. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure full integration by March 2025.

Access to e-Apostille Services

Citizens and organizations can access the e-Apostille services via the MyGov platform. The system allows for secure submission, multi-level verification, and provides an e-Apostille certificate with a unique QR code for easy validation.
